Most Sundays, as we are singing praises unto God, I am struck by the fact that God beckoned me to Him. I’ve written before about the person I used to be, and I don’t want to belabor the point, but – He rescued me. When I look back I am utterly amazed at how different I am from that young man bent on pain. I am utterly amazed at what He has done in my life.
1 I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.
(Psalm 40:1-3)
My church wants to fund a clean water well in a place where people cannot access clean water (GoGiveWell.com). I have faith that we will meet our goal, and am audaciously expecting that we will exceed it – because God is amazing. I can’t help but imagine how much rejoicing people will experience when clean, refreshing, safe water begins gushing from that well. I can’t wait until scenes like the one above, muck and mire, are replaced by a fountain of water.
I hope that as they experience being literally plucked form the muck and mire, that they also see the spiritual muck and mire that they can be rescued from.

Why stop at 1?
I’m praying for you guys in this endeavor… and a donation may be coming your way soon. We are talking and praying about the amount.
1? I see that as the beginning
I really believe He’ll surpass our expectations. Thanks for your support, Dusty.
The Church I pastor has made several donations to an African Project that is happening within the domination. The need for clean water is HUGE!

We are praying about the amount. Those pictures are heart-breaking.
That Psalm has a special place in my heart. A dear friend said he came across that Psalm right before he was going to end his life. It helped save him.
wow, awesome story, Michael.
I’m one grateful dude for the Father’s muck plucking love…for I was in deep.
Praying for the goal to be exceeded for sure…my family will settle on the amount
tonight.
me <~~~~ grateful too!
That psalm makes me cry every time I read it because it’s for now too. I mean that could have been us saying that psalm to God. I’ve cried it to Him but end up like that psalm praising Him. And I think that is what it’s all about. We have to end praising Him no matter what the circumstances because of what you wrote: He gave His life for us so we might live.
Our Queens late husband told his oldest son years ago to put water on the agenda of Nato. They laughed at him at the time. They don’t anymore. He is all for clean water in countries where it’s not.
Still working on getting that money there. Water is so important. We clean our food with it, we drink it, we cook with it, we shower with it, we clean our house with it etc.
I love those verses too, Ani. I pray that Nato gets to work on clean water.
